The Appraisal Institute is seeking an accounting professional who desires to build upon their current experience and learn new skills within the month-end and financial close areas. Reporting to the Manager of Chapter and Region Accounting, you'll be responsible for the monthly financial close for Appraisal Institute's chapters and affiliate regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate data collection from affiliates and finance team for monthly close process
  • Reconcile monthly operating bank statements for all affiliate accounts
  • Prepare and process monthly and quarterly intercompany journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Import monthly credit card expense transactions into affiliate general ledgers.
  • Prepare reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts in conjunction with the affiliates accounting process. Investigate variances, communicate with affiliates and perform necessary adjustments to accounts
  • Prepare monthly reports and related support for management review
  • Distribute monthly reconciliation reports
  • Assist as point of contact for affiliate accounting issues and financial report inquiries.
  • Assist in preparation for annual financial audit
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 3 years' experience in general accounting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting standards and principles
  • Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Skilled in analyzing data and information
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects independently and meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with affiliates finance team and staff across the organization
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, as well as accounting/financial software
  • Non-profit association experience a plus
