Do you want to be a part of creating the future of residential appraising and developing the next generation of appraisers? We are seeking full-time Mentors for our new PAREA (Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal) Program. PAREA is an online program covering appraisal theory and methodology in real-world simulations, with mentoring from expert appraiser mentors.
We know that mentors raise the problem-solving abilities of participants by increasing their confidence in their acquired skills. Mentors will not only advise and guide participants through the AI PAREA experience but will also be a catalyst for enriching participants' career development.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide regular insightful and meaningful feedback, evaluation, and support to participants through 10 PAREA simulated appraisal assignments
- Mentor PAREA participants through both asynchronous (email, discussion boards, etc.) and synchronous (phone, live online tools, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) platforms
- Collaborate with PAREA Coordinator and other PAREA stakeholders to shepherd participants through the program.
- Increase the problem-solving abilities of participants by increasing their confidence in their acquired skills
- Complete the required AI PAREA mentor orientation training session
- Represent and embody the ethics and professionalism of the Appraisal Institute in all mentor-participant interactions and communications
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLSET, & ABILITIES
- Designated Appraisal Institute professional (SRA or MAI) in good standing and in compliance with AI continuing education requirements. Not subject to any current investigation or disciplinary action within the last 3 years for violation of the Appraisal Institute Code of Professional Ethics
- State-certified appraiser in good standing for a period of at least 3 years prior to becoming eligible to become a mentor. Not subject to any disciplinary action within the last 3 years that affected the legal ability to engage in appraisal practice or to act as a Supervisory Appraiser. A mentor subject to a disciplinary action would be considered in "good standing" 3 years after the successful completion/termination of the imposed sanction.
- 5+ years of experience, including experience in the last 12-24 months, prior to becoming eligible to become a mentor, appraising a range of residential property types (including single-unit, 2-4 unit, condominium, and vacant land) for a variety of intended users and uses (including conventional and FHA).
- Solid understanding of residential real estate appraisal fundamentals and methodologies
- Able to competently use technology-based communication tools such as email, phone, the AI online learning management system (Canvas), and live online tools such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
- Able to competently use appraisal software and digital tools including cameras, MLS, forms software, GIS, measuring and sketch tools, and data services.
